The combination of sports and social commitment has always been a cornerstone of the Sports Association known as Albatro - Teamnetwork.
Project H21 is a new venture, where H stands for Handball and 21 represents the extra chromosome that characterizes the genetic makeup of people with Down syndrome. The project is a collaboration between the ASD Albatro and the Association DiversaMente, dealing with disabilities.
Siracusa has been the leader, along with Catania and Ragusa, in presenting the nomination of “Siracusa and the South East “as the European Capital of Culture 2019.
The city of Siracusa, known throughout the world for its history and its art treasures, had, in the 30ies of the last century, an industrial development with some factories and warehouses located in the south part of the harbour. One of these factories was S.P.E.R.O. specialized in the production of vegetable oils and soaps. Those factories and warehouses, once active , were decommissioned and the area looks degradated in a way common to many cities.
