The only Sicilian this year to be honoured with this prestigious appointment, Di Stefano can be credited with bringing back the most prestigious award in the world of work to Syracuse after an absence of nearly two decades.

Established in 1901, the title of “Cavaliere del Lavoro” is awarded to Italian nationals who have excelled in the five sectors of agriculture, industry, commerce, crafts and lending and insurance. This award is a fitting tribute to those who have dedicated their lives to the world of work, contributing significantly through business to the state’s economic growth, social development and innovation in the various sectors.

Cavaliere Alvaro Di Stefano, who said he was honoured by the accolade bestowed on him
by the Republic, will receive the medal of the Knight of Labour and its patent from President Giorgio Napolitano during a ceremony to be held in October.
