Paul Albrecht (General Manager of the Gamma Group) repeated the ceremony of laying the first stone of the future Nord Broyage grinding centre in Dunkerque on Friday, 13/06/2008 in the presence of the authorities, Daniel Canépa (Prefect of the Nord-Pas de Calais region), Michel Delebarre (Member of Parliament and Mayor of Dunkerque) and Jean–Claude Terrier (General Manager of the Port of Dunkerque).
Contimpianti S.p.A., represented by and Ferruccio Conti, was also present at the event. Contimpianti is responsible for the design, the supply of processing machinery, assembly and commissioning of the Nord Broyage plant as well. The objective of the Gamma Group for the Nord Broyage plant is to import clinker by ship (mainly from the Mediterranean) and grind it. By 2010, a productive capacity of 650.000 tons of cement / year is hoped to be reached.
Currently the civil works below ground level (piling) are being completed both in Fos sur Mer and Dunkerque, sub-contracted by Contimpianti to local companies.
