The main topics at this event were that of sustainability and the uncertainties in the global economic environment in the long and medium terms. The sessions were devoted to a thorough analysis of the regional and global markets for cement , putting Europe, Russia and the neighbouring countries and Africa as a whole under the magnifying glass.
The latest developments in the technology of cement production were highlighted, with particular attention paid to new technologies, economic issues related to the global crisis and new solutions for the growth of the industry in an environmentally friendly way, an increasingly important topic due to climate change. On this occasion I had the pleasure of taking part as a speaker at the conference, giving the audience news of the recent achievements of Contimpianti SpA: the two new grinding centres built “turnkey” in France at Dunkirk and Fos Sur Mer and respectively delivered to North Broyage and Cap Vracs. These facilities have a grinding capacity of 600 thousand tons per year, 10,000 tons of cement storage and a fully automatic line of bagging and palletizing of 4,000 bags of 35 kg per hour. For Contimpianti SpA, it was very important to have such a highly skilled and competent audience and to show that they had been able to simultaneously complete two grinders in “turnkey” within two years. The plants are currently in the commissioning phase and should be fully functional by January 2010. Cemtech 2009 was also a positive acknowledgment of the skills that Contimpianti was able to propose as a team, as was demonstrated by the numerous and interesting contacts which followed the presentation.
